COMMUNICATION:

Our staff will endeavour to communicate with people in a manner which takes into account their
disability while respecting their privacy, dignity and independence. Staff will explore with the
person how best to communicate with them and what supports Project Work can offer to assist
the person accessing our programs and services. Project Work will train staff and volunteers who
communicate with people on behalf of the agency on how to interact and communicate with
people with various types of disabilities. Project Work expects staff to adopt the “How may I
help you?” approach when offering services to all people. Staff are expected to adapt their
communication to meet the specific needs of the person accessing service. Telephone service for
people accessing service will be provided in clear and plain language. If telephone
communication is not available or the most suitable form of communication for the person, staff
will offer email, relay service or written alternatives.
