Project Work has operated supported employment programs since 1987. The organization is a registered, not-for-profit charitable organization governed by a Board of Directors.

Project Work receives a contribution from the Government of Canada. Additional revenues for operating the various programs are generated through fee-for-service contracts, primarily with the Ontario Disability Support Program - Employment Supports. Foundations, corporations and individual donations also provide financial resources for the programs.
